October is globally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, widely referred to as ‘Pink Month’ due to the unmistakable association of the colour pink with breast cancer awareness.

To commemorate Breast  Cancer Awareness month , The OM Foundation Charitable Trust organised a Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar on 13th Oct. 2024 at Constitution club of India from 2 to 5 pm.

 Rashmi Malhotra , a Cancer survivor and chairperson of the foundation, hosted the seminar to spread much needed awareness of Breast and cervical cancer among fellow women folks.

In this seminar eminent doctor surgeon Dr. Vedant Kabra, Principal director of Surgical Oncology of Fortis cancer Institute Gurgaon and Dr. Shashi Rakheja, Senior consultant Preventive Oncology of Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute presented highly informative talks on cancer. Dr. Vedant said Cancer is a disease that is constantly on the rise in our modern world. It is a disease that plagues millions of families all over the world and takes the young, old, rich and poor all the same. There are different forms of cancer and one that is on the rise at an alarming rate is breast cancer. It is a global disease but it seems to be a particularly troubling crisis in India with a sudden surge in the number of younger age groups being affected. Dr. Shashi explained about the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine which can help prevent HPV-related cancers in adolescents.

Guest of honour Sh. Mahabal Mishra , former Member of Parliament and Mr. Kumar Rahul , senior magistrate of Patiala house court also talked on the imortance of Awareness programs and appreciated efforts of The om foundation in regards to their initiative.

Guest speaker , Mr. Rohit Bahl , life coach , presented a power packed talk on the mind set and it’s impact on cancer prevention and treatment. Mrs. Parul Bahl, distinguished nutritionist and trustee of the foundation also talked on the role of nutrition during cancer treatment.

Guest speaker, Dr. Sanjeev Arora , a well known social worker and trustee of the foundation, also put light on the  increasing number of cancer patients and it’s threat on lives, he emphasised that awareness seminar of this kind should be held more often. Mr. Manish kumar convened the program efficiently . All the guests were welcomed with mementos and flower bouquet. Hundred of women attendees took advantage of the knowledge doctors provided through their talks on stage.

High tea was arranged post the program for all in the lawns of Constitution club of India.
